News from the ELFA Legal Forum

My Partner Kirk Burkley and I attended the ELFA Legal Forum at the Don Cesar in St. Petersburg Beach this past Sunday-Tuesday.  It was very well attended and many LEAN members were there.  There were over 150 inside lawyers in attendance, along with another 100 outside counsel.  Not only was there great networking (especially the drink vouchers provided by LEAN in lieu of an actual cocktail event) but there were also some excellent educational offerings.  Among the sessions was a very interesting seminar about the need for clients and lawyers to look at cybersecurity issues as more than just a tech problem.   It helped us learn about some rules and regulations that might impact the operations of our (and our clients’) business operations.

The conferences are always an excellent source of information about the legal aspects of leasing and equipment finance and a great way of renewing and making friendships with people who had common interests.  Next Year, the Forum is in DC.
